Manorial Lordship of Heathfield

"Heathfield Tower" Original Watercolor circa 1800

An original watercolor depicting Heathfield Tower, painted in circa 1800. Unfortunately, the artist is currently unknown. The painting depicts Heathfield Tower (or Gibraltar Tower), which was constructed in 1793 by Francis Newbery, whom had purchased Heathfield Park, the former home of General Augustus Eliott, 1st Baron Heathfield. The tower was intended as a memorial to Lord Heathfield, whom had been Governor at Gibraltar during the 'Great Siege' waged by the Spanish and French forces.
